The Hub Ltd, with support from the U.S. Embassy Banjul’s Public Diplomacy Annual Program, is implementing the Dolel Jigain Project, a women’s empowerment initiative designed to equip young women with digital, business, and employability skills.
The project targets 25 girls from the Lower River Region — with 23 actively participating — and aims to enhance their capacity to secure meaningful employment or launch their own businesses. The first phase kicked off at the Soma Youth Center with a 5-day intensive training on Digital Skills, Business Model Canvas, Communication, and Customer Service. These sessions were led by expert trainers and focused on building confidence, professionalism, and entrepreneurial thinking.
Following the training, participants are being assessed and guided into two tailored pathways — Employability or Entrepreneurship — ensuring each girl receives support suited to her aspirations. Early results show over 60% improvement in digital skills, 80% increase in communication confidence, and several participants already applying their knowledge in small business ventures or new jobs.
Beyond skill-building, the Dolel Jigain Project promotes mentorship, community engagement, and sustainability. The Hub is fostering local partnerships, connecting participants with mentors, and supporting them to reinvest in their personal and professional growth.
The next phase will include advanced track-based training, mentorship matching, and community outreach to strengthen local ownership and ensure long-term impact.
Through Dolel Jigain, The Hub continues its commitment to empowering Gambian girls and women with the tools, confidence, and opportunities to thrive in today’s digital and entrepreneurial landscape
